I wonder if it might have to do with collecting metadata, so Microsoft knows how the OS is treating hardware, and for portable devices how much juice is being used. Plus what settings on what kind of device are being used by the majority of users.
Or most likely, it's just part of Automatic Maintenance and something isn't kosher, the user will be told.

Interesting reading about these energy reports, as I never knew they existed until today. I have about 22 of these reports,1st one has a file date of Dec 3rd, 2015 to yesterday's date. Don't really know what use they are to me, one did mention a problem with one of my USB ports, not going to sleep or something like that, in a 10 min span. I don't have anything set to go to sleep anyhow. Monitor does go into stand-by mode, but that's it. (after 15mins) I turn off this computer at nite, Computer is set to stand-by mode after 4 hours.
If you guys find a way to turn this off, I'll be interested. :)

Mike if you have your advanced power option set to high performance and USB selective suspend, that's probably what it is, as Microsoft uses Balanced as default setting to be Earth Friendly and all(Now called Green).
I have all my stuff set to max out, and no drives park their heads and sleep, also I have Link State Power Management turned off.

Well mine is set to custom balanced setting. Not using the high performance settings. I could if you think it would be a better choice thou. I haven't messed with theses setting in a long time, hard drive is set to turn off in like 232 as their is no disable option for this under balanced settings. I did turn off the USB suspend option as it was on.

Update: Well after making these changes, I have also found out, at least so far, that changing these settings has fixed my Bluetooth Icon problem, in Action Center! Bluetooth was being displayed in my Action Center, even thou I have Bluetooth off.
This problem has affected lots of others too. @simrick For the 1st time in a while my dam Bluetooth icon does not display in action center for the last 3 days....so far.
