    winsat formal cannot be run in a VM, and perfmon starts collecting data, but just keeps on collecting and doesn't prepare the report in a VM. Oh well, it was worth a try, and I just learned something:)

    @Brink,
    Shawn maybe our answer is here: C:\Windows\diagnostics\system\Power
    I was using 7Zip and note pad to view the different folders & files(I just don't know what to use for MUI's, Resource Hacker(which I don't have... yet:))?

    Seems like it's part of automatic maintenance.

    Looking around while drinking my Saturday morning coffee, I saw perfmon doing automatic maintenance, and decided to peek in Task Scheduler and saw this(the trigger field is blank/hidden:

    I just ran an energy report on my new HP laptop. How do you fix the error and warnings?

    Hello Steve,

    The error doesn't look like it's anything that can be fixed since it's a hardware incompatibility issue.

    Hey, Brink -

    I never knew about this function or this report until today, but was poking around the Battery-related tutorials and found this one.
    Accordingly, I went to the Power Efficiency Diagnostics folder (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Power Efficiency Diagnostics) and discovered that I have 22 of these reports (file name format "energy-report-[date].xml"). They go from 2/18/2023 to 3/12/2023.

    Since I didn't ever run any of these reports before, I think you're correct that they are part of automatic maintenance. Out of curiosity, I intend to check in a few days to see if the folder still contains 22 files but the dates are newer since I have no idea why the 2/18 date would be the start date otherwise.

    In the meantime, can you explain how I can view one of those older reports? They are all in .xml format,. The folder contains an Edge html item called "energy-report.html" but I can only get it to open the most recent report (the one from yesterday). If I try to open an older report using Edge, it shows no formatting information; I can see the data is there but sheesh ...

    By contrast, I've been able to see the reports that show the "powercfg -energy" reports I ran today with no problem.
