I prefer to use Wi-Fi on the phone as well instead of Mobil Hotspot, but it just depends on what you have available.

    Hi Brink,
I was trying to set up the hotspot on my desktop win10 pc, and when I try to turn the option/feature on, I get "We can't set up mobile hotspot. Turn on Wi-Fi."
Well, Wi-Fi is on. I'm using a Belkin Play usb stick wifi adapter. I can connect to my own wifi with it, so it does work. But I wanted to use the desktop to set up a small wifi hotspot repeating the wired lan connection my desktop has to the bedroom it's in which has poor reception for our mobile devices.
Any help troubleshooting this would be appreciated!
    Thanks...

    Hello Kieran, :)

Does the Wi-Fi USB show as supporting Mobile Hotspot from using the tip at the top of the tutorial?

Interesting. You might check to see if there may be a newer driver available for the USB that may help.

I *just* downloaded the driver in order to try this out, so it is the latest. However it is also quite old - states Win8 as the newest supported OS. Maybe that's the problem?

Usually if it shows host network supported, it should work. I find it to be a bit finicky with older adapters though.

OK, I'll chalk this up to a too-old adapter and driver.

Same problem here, and a search of the error message brings up dozens of others with the same problem.

netsh wlan show drivers gives: Hosted network supported : Yes

    Hi,
I have followed all the instructions and have checked that hosted network support is "Yes".

yet I cannot get the mobile hotspot up and running.

The message I get is " We can't sup up mobile hotspot. Turn on Wi-Fi"

    Wi-Fi is turned on.

Does this mean mobile hotspot does not work to a normal Ethernet connection?
