That's what I was trying Shawn, but it wasn't working for me in Powershell, the cursor just kept moving around (difficult to tap the exact spot where it was for the right click) and no menu came up after the first attempt.

But by browsing I've now found out how to get the popup keyboard pinned to the taskbar, and I'm hoping that will work in Powershell so I can use Ctrl C and Ctrl V commands instead.

I definitely have a long way to go with this, and I only actually bought it to read books, have an emergency camera, and occasionally use online when it's not convenient to have the laptop with me, so maybe I could just stick to that and forget the rest.

One question though - I have those Store Ad icons for Minecraft and Mirror newspapers, and also Photoshop express, none of which I want. I followed the tutorial to stop new ads being offered, but is there an easy way to get rid of the ones that are already there? Not sure if this is covered in your tutorial?

I'm not sure those can be removed since they're embedded.

Can't imagine what sort of a deal Microsoft have done to embed an app that tries to get me to download the UK's Daily Mirror tabloid newspaper. I'd rather get poked in the eye with a sharp stick. Oh well, I can live with it if I have to.

And I may have worked out the problem I was having with the Powershell commands . Looks like I copied the commands to remove the apps from future accounts, not from current ones.

I'll have another go tomorrow when I'm awake and see if I can do it right next time!

    Oops.

Yeah, ads make the apps free and the world go round.

    Hi Brink,

I have been following this thread for a while, dealing with removing these built in apps on my domain machines. Thanks for your posts on this and have registered to ask the following question:

I am about to roll the 1511 update out to the domain machines and noticed during testing that all built in apps re-install. I can remove them using your methods if I sit at every machine and run the powershell scripts, but how can I do the same thing remotely?

I have been looking into it and see I need to enable PSRemoting on each machine, which itself is something that can be done remotely using PSTools

    Code:
    ((psexec \\[computer name] -u [admin account name] -p [admin account password] -h -d powershell.exe "enable-psremoting -force"))
Having done this, I can then load a Powershell session on the remote computer from my machine by running

    Code:
    Enter-PSSession -ComputerName [COMPUTER] -Credential [USER]
    .

I used the domain administrator credentials, and then when I run "Get-appxpackage -allusers *3dbuilder* | Remove-AppxPackage", I get the following error:

    Code:
    [COMPUTER]: PS C:\Users\administrator.[domain]\Documents> Get-appxpackage -allusers *3dbuilder* | Remove-AppxPackage
Remove-AppxPackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CF1, Package was not found.
Windows cannot remove Microsoft.3DBuilder_10.9.50.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe because the current user does not have that
package installed. Use Get-AppxPackage to see the list of packages installed.
NOTE: For additional information, look for [ActivityId] d6fb308a-9015-0003-bc1d-fcd61590d101 in the Event Log or use
the command line Get-AppxLog -ActivityID d6fb308a-9015-0003-bc1d-fcd61590d101
        + CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (Microsoft.3DBui...__8wekyb3d8bbwe:String) [Remove-AppxPackage], PSInval
       idOperationException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : DeploymentError,Microsoft.Windows.Appx.PackageManager.Commands.RemoveAppxPackageCommand

Do you have any insight into this or another method to remove these apps remotely? Any help appreciated!

Hello Neenz, and welcome to Ten Forums.

I'm not sure how to do this remotely, but did you see if the command to remove all built-in apps except Store for all users may work?

Thank you and thanks for the quick response!

I will give it a go on a test machine and report back, however I want to retain the Photos and Calculator apps - is that possible using that command?

    Shame.

As I'm sure it is mentioned elsewhere in this thread, I really don't understand MS and the decision to add all these "useful" apps into Win 10 Pro, designed for domain / corporate use....

I could understand it in Home, but I remove them on that too!!

I think I may have to just "bite the bullet" and allow these apps to be present on all machines, especially as they come back with every major update (1511 and "anniversary" no doubt) and I will be back to square one....

Well I had another go, using the correct scripts this time, and the apps were removed but not fully and it's now a bit of a mess.

On the account I was working in, an Admin account, the apps were removed. But despite using the script to remove the apps for all users, they were not removed on another (non-admin) account.

So I ran Powershell as an admin on the non-admin account to try to remove the apps, (again using the all users script) but this didn't work - I get an error saying the app package can't be removed because it isn't installed. But it is still there and it works; it's not just the tile still sitting on the Start screen.

    Any suggestions?

Also, when I try to remove onedrive - which has an uninstall option - I get taken to the Programs and Features screen, but I can't see it on there so have no idea how to delete this either .
