    Hi Shawn,

Well I went mad and bought a tablet which I've upgraded to Windows 10.

Next step was to remove the apps I don't want, and for those that don't offer an 'Uninstall' option I tried Option 3 of your tutorial. So far it isn't working for me.

I am using an Admin account but maybe not using Powershell at the right level or something? (Though there was only one option for me to open Powershell.)

Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong please.

And this tablet is incredibly fiddly to use - it will never replace my laptop, can't imagine how anyone can use these or phones easily, my fingers are too big - so a solution that is simple would be a great help .

    Thanks

I am getting 'Access is Denied' and 'Unauthorized Access Exception' errors in Powershell.

    Hello Maggy,

It sounds like you may not have opened an elevated PowerShell.

So I tried this command in elevated powershell to remove messaging and skype video:
    Code:
    Get-appxpackage -allusers | where-object {$_.packagename -like "*Messaging*"} | remove-appxpackage
But it didnt remove anything.., I tried rebooting, and running the command again. I also get no response when I run the command, I dont know if thats normal..

    Hello dumble,

The command below should work for all users instead. I'll update the tutorial now.

    Get-AppxPackage -allusers *Messaging* | Remove-AppxPackage

    Thought you would say that.

I managed to open the elevated Powershell after increasing font size to give me a chance to be able to select an individual option (so fiddly this tablet, even with a stylus). I copied and pasted a couple of your find/remove commands, which seemed to go okay, but now the cursor is blinking at the end of a command, and not returning me to the prompt to be able to do another.

Any idea why this might be? I thought these things executed pretty quickly, so it seems odd if it's taking a long while to do something.

    Hello Maggy,

Sometimes it may take a few minutes, but shouldn't take much longer than that.

You can check in All apps in the Start menu to see if the app has actually been uninstalled (no longer listed). If so, then you can safely close the PowerShell window, and open another if needed.

    Thanks Shawn,

Looks like it didn't work. On the tablet I am really struggling to paste commands into Powershell. I can't work out how to get a 'right click' action. It did work the first time when I pressed for a little longer, but now I can't do it at all, and I don't automatically get a keyboard popping up to help me.

So I think removing these unrequired apps is going to be something of a challenge, and maybe I need to learn more about how the tablet works first.

If you can point me towards any useful tutorials I'd really appreciate it.

To right click on a tablet you should be able to press and hold on an item until you see the transparent box appear, then release to see the context menu.
