The Microsoft Edge web browser is based on Chromium and was released on January 15, 2020. It is compatible with all supported versions of Windows, and macOS. With speed, performance, best in class compatibility for websites and extensions, and built-in privacy and security features.

There's now a new desktop search bar included with the Microsoft Edge 111 version and above in Windows 10. You can use the search bar to search the web and launch you favorite sies directly from the desktop. The search box provides search (powered by Bing) and URL suggestions.

The desktop search bar automatically opens at startup by default in Windows 10.

You can use the WebWidgetAllowed policy to completely disable the Microsoft Edge desktop search bar if wanted.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable the Microsoft Edge desktop search bar all users in Windows 10.

You must be signed in as an administrator to enable or disable the Microsoft Edge desktop search bar.

I'm sure that it wil be as much a success as other recent MS 'initiatives', rather than providing a stable platform with well-tested patches/updates that we used to rely upon by a former OS provider, now a purveyor of 'shiny, sparkly, untested things to amuse 'who knows?'... but let's not mention MS home networking successes since... before Vista?

Isn't the most straight forward way to just use its three dot menu to disable auto-launching? Or is that not permanent?:
Stop the windows search bar (aka microsoft edge search bar tray icon) from auto-launching / starting at startup - Super User

You could stop it from running at startup like below.

    Hello, and welcome.

The "WebWidgetAllowed" DWORD is only used to disable it if wanted since it's enabled by default.
