I've not found a reason yet for WHY the NumLock light is disabled, would be nice to have a visual indicator.

Someone need to report this problem to Microsoft .

They are aware of it. A fix will be in the Redtone 2 release 1703 scheduled for Mar 2017. Here's a preview of new features/ fixes -

two constant annoyances posted in the forum addresses in article -

    • Better preservation of upgrade state – For example, universal apps removed by the user are now remembered when you upgrade and are not reinstalled.
    • Faster PIN login – no need to ensure num lock is enabled. (Editor’s note: Yes!!)

    Thanks.

Where do people report problems to Microsoft?

Also how to report problems to google?

These big companies don't have a specific bug report email address.
Most of the time they have a help section, which suppose to answer common problems, but if none of it solves the problem,
you are pretty much out of luck.

    Which fix did you use?

It does not work for some of us..

Try shutdown with numlock off/on and see if it works again.

I don't think there is any permanent fix yet, until the next windows update.

I set InitialKeyboardIndicators to 2 with regedit
With numlock ON, it stays ON across shutdown, this is what i was looking for
