I did use the transparent.ico from the tutorial but I did not unblock or save it into the System32 folder. I kept the downloaded transparent.ico in my downloads folder on my C:/ drive. (I'm running 64-bit, if that matters.)

As test, unblock it, copy it to the System32 folder, and change the path in the registry to see if that may help.

I find that if the .ico file is not saved in a location that all users can access, it could sometimes cause issues displaying properly.

Okay, I unblocked the file in my download folder, copied it into my System32 folder, went back to the registry and put in the new path and still no dice after restarting windows explorer.

Hello Snipe, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

The Shell Icons key is not there by default, and will need to be added using the note box under step 5A.

Hmm, ok. Go ahead and post a screenshot showing your registry settings for this to see if anything may be wrong.

So, I ended up just decompressing my HDD and now all of the white pages / blue arrows are gone. I've got more than enough space so decompressing was no biggie. Here's the picture of my registry just for the record. Change or Remove Compression Blue Arrows on Icons in Windows 10-registry.png

    Drak,

I don't see anything wrong with your registry setting for this, so I'm not sure why the .ico didn't display properly for you.

I'm glad you got it sorted by decompressing though.
