How to Enable or Disable Tab Hover Cards in Microsoft Edge Chromium

The flag used in this tutorial has been removed starting with Microsoft Edge 96.

Microsoft has adopted the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge on the desktop to create better web compatibility. This new Microsoft Edge runs on the same Chromium web engine as the Google Chrome browser, offering you best in class web compatibility and performance.

The new Chromium based Microsoft Edge is supported on all versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server (2016 and above), Windows Server (2008 R2 to 2012 R2), and macOS.

If wanted, you can enable the Tab Hover Cards experimental flag for a popup containing tab information to be visible when hovering over a tab. If Tab Hover Cards is enabled, it will replace tooltips for tabs.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable Tab Hover Cards replacing tooltips for tabs in the Chromium based Microsoft Edge.

EXAMPLE: Tab Hover Cards enabled (cards) and disabled (tooltips) in Microsoft Edge

    Here's How:

    1 Open Microsoft Edge.

2 Copy and paste edge://flags/#tab-hover-cards into the address bar, and press Enter. (see screenshot below)

3 Select Default (same as disabled), Enabled, Enabled B, Enabled C, or Disabled in the Tab Hover Cards drop menu for what you want, and click/tap on Restart to apply.

Default is the same as enabled in the Microsoft Edge Dev and Canary channels.

Enabled B and Enabled C offer a different amount of time it takes for the card to appear after hovering the pointer over the tab. You may need to test each one compared to Enabled to see which timing you like best.

4 When finished, you can close the Experiments tab if you like.

Nope. It's no longer an available option.

    Hi @Brink

As you know, users can bring it back by enabling this: edge://flags/#temporary-unexpire-flags-m9x

I have disabled it, but it doesn't work! Why is it there then? It is annoying (I have sent feedback, but as always, nothing!).

    Hello,

If you haven't already, you could see of closing and reopening Microsoft Edge may apply your changes.

Thanks. I had restarted Edge and Win, nothing! I think it doesn't work anymore, and they forgot about removing that flag!
