Same here. Hash on the .esd file is correct but getting error on attempt to convert.
    Hi there

did you follow what I said in my post. If you've already UPDATED to 10041 it's too late.

Copy the whole kybosh to a separate folder on another HDD.

Note that the export ESD Index runs about 4 times. Messages like Exporting ESD Index n to a new install.wim file. Final one takes around 25 mins. n is a whole number .

    Cheers

Odd... I did the ISO AFTER complete install, and no problems at all. Did update, made sure it was clean, rebooted, did a backup image, then did Kari's ESD to ISO tut. Did it to ext drive and all went smooth!

I'm working with an .esd I directly downloaded from WU. File hash is correct but I keep getting error message about data.

    Hi there

I did mine to an external HDD too -- all went fine

Copied to bootable USB stick via rufus --boots perfectly.

Mine was created from a VM -- not sure if that has any difference .

    Cheers

Not having any luck with 10041.

ESDtoISO fails both in Win10 and Win8 - source is corrupt or invalid, followed by DISM parameter error.
I have two downloaded update folders - the first failed to update, a reboot did not offer the install, only the download, so I pulled another one down.

    10041.0.150313-1821.fbl_impressive_CLIENTPRO_RET_x64fre_en-us.esd
    2,425,924 bytes - seems small

I'm not that worried about it, I'll try updating the VHD in a VM and / or running the ESDtoISO commands by hand just to see what's going on.

I also tried the v4 version - unchanged with all options. Also failed - both esd files and on both Win8 and Win10.
Very strange. I had no issues whatsoever, also getting comments from other users telling ISO created just fine.

Your ESD file has correct size but a wrong name. The file name is install.esd and it is located in C:\$Windows~BT\Sources (hidden & protected system folder) if the upgrade is downloaded but not installed, and in C:\RecoveryImage if the upgrade is installed.

Here the size of both the ESD and ISO created from it. Notice that the ISO is also half a gig smaller than the build 9926 ISO:

Direct download links for the ESD files to be able to create your own ISO image:

All above ESD files are US English versions.

Thanks to our admin @z3r010 for the tip :).

With these ESD files you need to use the latest decryption script: ESD-decrypt.zip
Remember to run the tool elevated!

    Hi there

IMO the best solution is to copy the whole lot as you suggested to a SEPARATE directory say G:\ESD on a separate HDD including the creation utility program and run the commands from there.

What some people *might* find confusing is that the Image / index gets copied about 4 times once the process starts running - the last one takes the longest . Then it takes a while (nothing appears to happen for about 10 mins) after all the index images have been created before trhe final iso is written.

You can ignore the initial INDEX Xml error message right at the start of the process if it appears when you run the utility. The index gets re-built again during the process.

Once the ISO has been created you can create a bootable USB stick with Rufus V2.0 for running on a machine with no DVD's. On a VM you can boot directly from the ISO image.

Mine used the GB Enterprise version. The initial ISO is about 3GB - a little bit bigger than the ESD file. There's some optimisation etc of the final image that the utility performs.

I will give this a go for a clean install later tonight. I tried earlier following the tut, but had an error. I am not happy with the upgrade of this build but will give it a go with this. Thanks

Continued to get errors and never did have any luck with the ESD file directly downloaded from WU. I rounded up a ESD created as part of the upgrade process and made an ISO without any problem.

The original decrypter.exe (qad) and the batch script (abbodi1406) was developed at MyDigitalLife forums.

I have used successully to create both esd and wim based ISO's from the ESD links.

I can't access the original - seems the site is down (?) - but here's a copy of the app.
