@Kari ... not to sound negative, but are the ISO's being tested to see if they boot? Or used with DISM to see if they work? Or just created without error? Again, not trying to sound negative, but there is a difference. TC
I will never post a note about tool working with a new build before creating at least two or three ISO images (this time both UK & US English and Finnish PRO), then running two simultaneous installs on HyperV using these self made images (today installed both UK & US English ones).

Only when those installs are done and there are no issues or errors, and after creating both local, AD and Microsoft accounts signing in to each and checking network and display settings, only then will I post a note telling the tool works.

Feel free to do further tests

Thank you, Kari. I knew you would test the actual fitness of the ISO before posting all was OK. I, too, create and test the ISO. I just now finished doing an in-place upgrade to one of my physical 14942 OS's to 14946. All went fine. I, too, can now report no issues found in creating and testing the tool.

    Thanks, TC

You are welcome. This testing is why it sometimes after a new build will take several hours before I post that it works.

    PLEASE NOTICE:

The tool and the method in this tutorial both work without issues with ESD file of the latest Insider Build 14955 released earlier today.

Thanks,Kari. Also, I just updated a physical partition 14959 OS to 14965 using the EsdtoISO (WIM format) and all went fine.

Run into something odd - I cannot find the .esd file for this new build, I believe someone mentioned this before, but I cannot find it anywhere.

Looking at the properties for the BT folder, I don't see where it may be hiding. I even ran explorer with elevated privileges....

A few quotes from Insider Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14965 for PC and Mobile - Windows 10 Forums thread:

I have been trying to tell, repeatedly, in the ESD to ISO tutorial that the correct marching order after the upgrade is ready to be installed is to FIRST copy the install.esd file to safe location, only then click Restart now to perform the upgrade.

In several builds, especially the early ones, the install.esd file was / is removed when upgrade is done.

In this post you'll find clear instructions for what to do and in which order when upgrade is ready to be installed, covering all three scenarios (WU showing either Fix issues, Install now or Restart now buttons): ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File - Page 69 - Windows 10 Forums

This is nothing new, rather an old feature making a comeback. In quite a many earlier builds the install.esd file was removed when upgrade was done, long in to Insider builds after version 1511 was released.

It's of course up to every user to either just go forward with upgrade and then later on check if the ESD file is still there, or be sure and copy it before upgrade. I still remember the earlier builds and how it disappeared, therefore I wouldn't even dream about clicking Restart now before I have copied ESD file to a safe location on an external disk.

    First a warning:

    warning   Warning
As was with earlier build upgrades, it seems that an old not so nice feature has made a comeback: the install.esd file will be removed from C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources folder when upgrade is finished. The fact that this happens now with build 14965 might indicate it will also happen with future build upgrades.

To be able to make your own ISO for possible repair and re-installs, remember to copy it to a safe location (an external disk for instance) before starting the upgrade, before clicking Restart now!

The above being said, here's a onetime offer to those of you fellow geeks who forgot to copy the ESD file before upgrade and in doing so lost the opportunity to make an ISO image.

I've uploaded both British English and US English Windows 10 PRO Build 14965 x64 ISO images to OneDrive. If you don't find the ESD and need an ISO, you can download it from here: 14965 ISO on Kari's OneDrive

I am sorry but as I have no use for Windows 10 Home edition and 32 bit PRO, I have no Home ISO images nor do I have PRO 32 bit to offer. EN-GB & EN-US x64 PRO only!
