Any restart button will do. Just hold the Shift key down when you press Restart.

Great tutorial - if you can get to the windows login screen! Many of thoose in trouble are thoose who are stuck on black screen after upgrade - please provide tutorial on how to get either the upgrade finished or how to reboot into safe mode.
Microsoft is - in my opinion- stupid! They should have enabled Safe mode in the upgrade so that if something went wrong, then people would have a choice - now many are stuck with a non-functioning system after upgrade and no way to get to safe mode, because there is no option to make an Windows 10 DVD before you have booted into you newly installed windows 10 for the first time and downloaded the DVD creation tool - MS=0 intelligense!
I have spent 25 years of troubleshooting this kind of stupidity!

Did you read your own answer before posting it? How are you going to get to your image if you can't get into safe mode, most people don't have several pc's like we do. On less you mean, 3part image or one you can get to by recoveryDVD(which most people dont have either)!
I found that if you physically turn off your machine immediately after the cyan windows logo appears (before getting to the log-on screen) two times this brought up the recovery mode, so that might help in the situation you mentioned.
