    Hi,
I tried all the options but Windows.old wont go away.
It still contains a few folders which refuse to be deleted: Windows>System32>drivers and DriverStore both of which contain folders and/or files. Total size down to 1.10 MB from 24 GB.
Don't know if I need to be concerned or not!

Try this. go into your device manager and find "intel display audio" right click on it and disable it. you should then be able to safely delete the windows.old folder

    Other Windows.something folders

    Hi guys,

    Similar to WIndows.old, I have folders $Windows.~BT and $Windows.~WS.

Are these also candidates for deletion?

    Hi
The files you are talking about are not the exact same as windows old

They are both temporary directories used by windows to update your system.
It is safe to delete both to reclaim valuable space.

My windows.old folder cannot be removed. This is the latest attempt. Would the latest driver from the mfgr update the driver and free this one up so that I can delete it. NVIDA GeForce GTX750 Ti. Tx

I think you are right Brink, because I get "access is denied" when trying Option 2 & 3. I may try "Unlocker" because I've heard some people have success with it.
