His Advanced System Font Tool is actually better and has more Options and will even save your Original Metrics to a .reg file, if you let it do so before making any Changes or you can use the Export Button.

i regularly duplicate my screen onto tv over hdmi. on occasion, not sure exactly what causes it, but when i restart i have default sized text. i think it's changing the resolution back to laptop screen only etc. is there a way to stop that from happening?

    Hello mate,

Is this happening while still duplicating the screen to the TV?

If you like, you might test using the setting below to change the text size in Windows 10 to see if it may stick. It does apply to all text though, and not just icons text.

I used the System Font Size Changer and now the File Explorer title bar has gone very small.
And all my desktop icons are all bunched up together.

How to I revert it back to default?

    Hello mate,

The default size will vary depending on your current DPI scaling level and screen resolution.

One quick way is to do a system restore using a restore point dated before you made these changes.

Otherwise, you will need to make small changes in "System Font Size Changer" until you find a setting that look best.

    Hi mate.

I did a System Restore. Too much to fix. It's all back now.

This tutorial has been updated to add OPTION TWO to change the text size of icons using a REG file since OPTION ONE is no longer available starting with Windows 10 build 15019. :)
    Thanks for those .reg files.

In my new win 10 install, after resizing other things through the UI, the initial hex value for the first hex number in the IconFont field was e2, not f4. I deduce that this is the number that controls font size. In my case changing that number to e8 produced the desired smaller font size.

I don't know how uniform across installations is the default size parameter, but I'd recommend doing what I did -- navigate to that registry field in regedit, context-menu-select 'modify binary data', double click on that first parameter, and change it to a new hex value, where in microsoft logic a bigger number means a smaller font. This is because MS apparently lives in Bizarro World, where everything is backwards of what would be rational.
