Then what am i supposed to do? All i have is the CD which i originally used to install windows, so i can reinstall it in one drive (by doing a format in there), but the thing is i dont wanna loose any files
Reinstall Windows as I told you, but do not format the drive. When reinstalled you can find your old ducuments and files in the Windows.old folder as I told in my previous post.

I have been trying to follow this tutorial and have failed. I used the Media Creation Tool to generate an ISO file. I mounted the ISO file using the native Windows 10 function. I then looked in the sources folder to verify I had install.wim but I did not. I only saw install.esd. Does this process work with install.esd as well? According to the tutorial, it says I need to use install.wim but I cannot figure out what I need to do to get it working.

Using an Asus X205T. Wanting to put the users folder on the d:\ drive which is a 64gb microsd card. The iso is located on a usb drive (e:\) and the iso is mounted as the f:\ drive.

any ideas how to get this working?

    Thanks in advance.

Funny that I need to repeat this at least once a week, this quote from my post a week ago. Reading a few last posts in addition to the tutorial itself you had seen it:

Do you guys read any of the at least most recent posts, or would that be too big an effort? Quote from a post I apparently need to post at least once a week, this from last week:

As I have repeatedly told in this thread, you can download an ISO image with an install.wim file from Microsoft Tech Bench

Tutorial: Windows 10 ISO Download - Windows 10 Forums.
That being said, you cannot relocate the users folder to an SD card. It must be an HDD or SSD, not removable media.

Hi Kari, I'm sorry i didn't read any of the recent posts, i was quite nervous for thinking i just ****ed up everything.

Also thanks for answering me fast, your a really nice guy.

One last problem, when attempting to reinstall windows on the SSD (so then i can recover my data from windows.old) I get a problem saying that due to the SSD being a GPT-type drive, windows can't be installed in that drive. Since so ive got two options:ñ

1- converting it to MBR (which also fails due to the drive being "readonly" and can't be "unlocked" so i can write on int, convert to MBR and reinstall windows.

2- Installing new windows on the HDD meaning so i got a dualBoot. Im not sure about doing this since i don't know how this works but if maybe by doing that i can recover my data from the SSD and revert the changes done with the unattended file and then maybe deleting one of the windows installation, would be quite good

Once more thanks for your support

    Short answer: Read the tutorial!

Long Answer: Seriously, read the tutorial! Those geeks who subscribe to this thread or just come back to read the last posts have noticed how I have criticized some new members who join to post a question which has been answered multiple times, in some cases in just the last post before someone posts the same question again.

I know I should not do that, should not criticize, that I should just answer the same question again and again. That I have also done, my frustration is not and will not be prioritized higher than another member's need for assistance. I just complain because it really is frustrating .

But in this case now, I hope you don't mind me criticizing a bit and asking why did you not read the tutorial before proceeding? The last part of the tutorial with the title written in really big font is called Upgrade. It addresses this issue as detailed as possible, explaining step by step what to do and how to proceed.

When dealing with something you are not familiar with, it is never a good idea to read just a part of the tutorial, then decide "Oh I got it!" and stop reading.

An extract from the tutorial, part Upgrade at the end of it:

When running Sysprep on an upgraded Windows you will get an error message about Sysprep not being able to validate your Windows installation, Sysprep will simply not run. Checking the log file you will find out the reason in plain text:

    Code:
Sysprep will not run on an upgraded OS. You can only run Sysprep on a custom (clean) install version of Windows.
I repeat: Please read the tutorial.

Kari--I wonder if you can offer some advice.
My event viewer is littered with ESENT errors, some of which suggest that the SettingSyncHost is attempting to access a database that is no longer in the Users folder on C.

SettingSyncHost (5640) {EE7D1913-AA80-496E-BF3E-93A5CE67E968}: Database recovery failed with error -1216 because it encountered references to a database, 'C:\Users\omnes\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\SettingSync\metastore\meta.edb', which is no longer present. The database was not brought to a Clean Shutdown state before it was removed (or possibly moved or renamed). The database engine will not permit recovery to complete for this instance until the missing database is re-instated. If the database is truly no longer available and no longer required, procedures for recovering from this error are available in the Microsoft Knowledge Base or by following the "more information" link at the bottom of this message.

That particular error (494) is being logged 20-30 times per minute. Do you know a way in which the process can be pointed at the correct location (H:\Users)?

I assume it's not possible to create that specific folder structure on C and copy the database over, given that SettingSync\metastore\meta.edb is a hidden system file within those hidden system folders with particular permissions.

The other related errors are 454, 488 & 413, each of which occurs multiple times per minute in a repetitive sequence.

Is this something sysprep should be dealing with when moving the Users folder?

(I've yet to find the information referred to in the message, and the 'more information' link (Event Log Online Help) inevitably gives no information.)

Well I've found some information, but only relating to permissions. Nothing I've read suggests that this system process is informed that the Users folder has been moved. I guess it will be resolved my MS eventually, hopefully before system drives choke on error log files.

Meantime I've turned off the sync option in Settings > Accounts > Sync your settings > sync settings : off.
Not the solution that MS will be encouraging, I'm sure, but no error reports since.

Just checked on the laptop I am using at the moment, with Users folder relocated on drive E:. Not a single event 494. I have no idea what might cause your issue.
