Something off in FIrefox, I started it in safe mode with NO add ons and it still wont see the Get MCTool to do repair install. Guess just have to use IE for this issue. Ran across this issue before with add ons and firefox blocking out certain sites or downloads, dont know what issue would be, even with or without add ons.

I thought I had read somewhere you need to use IE (or Edge? ) to download the MCT or ISO's ? not sure if that was just rumour or speculation being re-reported though.

    Hi Shawn,

My laptop had seemed sluggish for a little while and I thought the AU might perk it up, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Would a Repair Install be worth a try? (I thought the AU replaced the System Files so not sure if I would achieve anything different with the Repair Install.)

I don't suppose a Repair Install would solve my new glitch of Microsoft Solitaire not loading would it? I'm guessing I will end up uninstalling and reinstalling that for a final solution.

    Hello Maggy, :)

It won't hurt anything to see if a repair install may help sort your issues. As usual, I would always recommend to back up anything that you don't want to lose to be safe.

Thanks Shawn, I'll give it a try.

I did a back-up before I did the AU and haven't really done much since. At least if I have to go to the back-up I'll get all your fixes back (of course the AU removed them all). Hopefully I won't need to resort to a new install except as a last resort anyway.

did not work, after step 13 it rebooted to install cd of windows setup as if was a new install, now windows won't boot, repair fails, system restore fails, return to previous build fails.

only option is install from scratch and hope it doesn't delete all my personal files

that fails too, compatibility issues, says remove media and restart in to windows

omg i did custom install options and shows my c drive is empty unallocated space, what happened?

Where is your Backup? And how was it made. And when.

If you need help with an installation, repair or clean, open a thread in this:

    no backup, windows erased everything

i used the same dvd iso i used to upgrade to windows 10 anniversary edition a few weeks back. it worked back then just fine, now i lost everything. i could understand a failed upgrade, but formatting my drive is weird. not sure what happened

You did your backup on the same drive as your system?
