Currently have Win 10 Pro installed. After last cumulative update on it goes to hibernation and wont wake up without power off and reboot. cant figure it out so thought would do 10 reinstall over 10. Do I just use the Media creation tool here.

    Windows 10

MS Tech did a reinstall for me on a different machine and it reinstalled 10 over top of 10 and KEPT ALL my apps, win32 programs and files. Sort of like when I installed 10 over 8.1. Kept everything. That is what I want to do. Is the tool the way to go, dont want to lose anything like if you do clean install or reset.

    Hello bricko, :)

MCT would be for step 7 to do a repair install with. Be sure to verify that both items are checked at step 13 to make sure you will keep everything.

So that will keep all apps and .exe programs like my Office 2010.

Correct. You will keep everything doing a repair install following the tutorial. :)

Download the ISO with the MCT and burn yourself a DVD. Then you can reinstall anytime you want.

Oh come on, why not explain what you will lose?

Repair install is an excellent way to fix things but to say you keep everything is a bit over the top.

    You don't.

I've never lost anything doing a repair install other than a few system settings being reset to default.

Other than what's already in the red warning box at the top of the tutorial, please feel free to enlighten all of us. If you're losing something, then it may need to be added to the tutorial.

Well nothing really. You were (as normal) correct. You get some things reset to default but nothing of interest. I do it probably once a week.

You have to remember (which is detailed above) that some things are set to default and you may want to reset them.
