    Hi,

I found your really helpful tutorial a couple of months ago, managed to re-instate my Photo Viewer default & it was great. A few days ago I noticed that Windows "Photos" was back after an update this week to my Windows 10.

    Two questions:
Do you reckon we're going to have to keep re-instating the old Photo Viewer each time we get a major update?
................ and is it safe to just do your tutorial again?

Please be kind - I'm new here & not confident with poking about in the registry. Many thanks.
Hello Aconitum, and welcome to Ten Forums.

It's safe to do again if needed. :)

Hi it should not have gone back
But because it did go to Settings
    System
    Default Apps
    Photo Viewer
Then scroll down till you see
    Windows Photo Viewer
    Click it
    Now you should have
    Windows Photo Viewer Back again
I tried that 1st & it completely ignored what i asked it to do, which is exactly what it was doing a few months ago. I swear the flaming thing's alive! It's actually there to select, but Windows 10 just thumbs its nose every time I ask for it as default.

brink's tutorials are great, wonderfully comprehensive, though there have been a few times I wished he'd gone a, b, c, and d, rather than taking three off ramps and a u-turn along the way.

    that said, great tutorial brink!

    Hello Clint, :)

It sounds like it's an issue with your Color Management profile. See if this below may fix it for you.

    1. Open Color Management (colorcpl.exe)
    2. Check the Use my settings for this device checkbox.
    3. Click the profile to select it.
    4. Click the Remove button. Click Continue.
    5. Click the Add button. Under ICC Profiles, double-click sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
    6. Click Close.
