Just to be absolutely clear, I don't want my mechanical drives spinning at all unless absolutely necessary.
So Telling my drives to never turn off means they're always running...

But again, this is one of my biggest complaints about Win 10, it starts up the mechanical drives at every opportunity & I would guess that in most cases it doesn't have to.
Even if you exclude them from search indexing and or Defender scanning they will still spin up, they just won't be scanned.

    Elbeasto,

I never understood why it has to spin all drives up either instead of just the one you're trying to open, but if you set Turn off hard disk after to never, it'll stop it.

    elbeasto,

You might set Turn off hard disk after to an hour to see how that works for you. This way they won't spin up as often if they have to be idle for an hour before turning off.

I have run 'Restore_Windows_Photo_Viewer.reg' several times now to no avail. Initially it worked that day, but since then the only way I can get Photo Viewer is to right click on a file and click 'Open With' then select PV. Any thoughts on what is up?

    Hello Silvera, :)

After you merge the .reg file, be sure that you also do step 8 to set Windows Photo Viewer as the default program.

I'm new to the forum and windows 10, so hope I'm posting in the right place!
I used to be able to arrange photos in any order and view them in that order(in Windows XP).
I am trying to get that option back in Windows 10. I have been able to follow directions and am now able to drag/drop photos within a folder and rearrange them in that way. However, when I go to the photoviewer, they are not in that order. In fact, they are not even in the original order except the first one or maybe two.

Is it even possible to view in the order I rearrange them in (in the viewer, using the forward/back arrow keys)?

    Thanks for any help!
