the Memtest86+ web site in May 2022 seems to only mention a 6.00 version, which is currently in beta and not ready for production yet

v6 is NOT READY for production yet!
Please consider the actual code as experimental and expect crashes and freezes. First non-beta release is expected this summer.
edit - the previous versions like 5.01 and 5.31b are still available for download but listed in the archives page instead

6.00 final non-beta released 10/23 on their web site

still must turn off secure boot to load memtest86+ 6.00 as the creator(s) have not yet solved that problem

    Errors?

Can someone offer some explanation please, because Memtest86+ is throwing hundreds of errors but good old Memtest86 passes on the same hardware? I am unsure which tool to believe!

Memtest86+ 6.00 (both betas & final) are sorta buggy on both old & modern PCs but a recent 6.01 release came out on their web site and on Majorgeeks that may have some bug fixes

The tutorial was last updated in 10/21 and displayed:

    Code:
     Warning
IMPORTANT: Memtest86+ only works with BIOS/Legacy - not UEFI.

MemTest86+ needs to run for at least 8 passes to be anywhere near conclusive, anything less will not give a complete analysis of the RAM.

If you are asked to run MemTest86+ by a Ten Forums member make sure you run the full 8 passes for conclusive results. If you run less than 8 passes you will be asked to run it again.

    The Memtest86+ website displayed:

    Code:
Memtest86+ is a stand-alone memory tester for x86 and x86-64 architecture computers. It provides a more thorough memory check than that provided by BIOS memory tests. Memtest86+ can be loaded and run either directly by a PC BIOS (legacy or UEFI) or via an intermediate bootloader that supports the Linux 16-bit, 32-bit, 64-bit, or EFI handover boot protocol. It should work on any Pentium class or later 32-bit or 64-bit x86 CPU.

    Code:
I can't boot because of a "Secure Boot Violation"
The Memtest86+ binary is not signed by Microsoft, so you need to temporarily disable Secure Boot in your BIOS options. We're working on a better solution.

I just found that no installer and EXE file are necessary for MemTest86.
I downloaded "memtest86-usb.zip", extracted the image file "memtest86-usb.img", copied it onto a Ventoy device, rebooted my PC, and booted it from the image file. Then, MemTest86 was started properly.
