TV not playing sound through 3.5mm jack cable

I have a Samsung TV as a monitor for my PC and I want to play audio through a 3.5mm jack cable coming out of my PC's front panel.

The jack connector on the TV's side clearly says PC / DVI AUDIO IN but there's no sound. Through the Realtek Audio Console I have tried setting the connection as "Speakers", "Headphones" and "Line-in" but nothing works. The audio source is enabled in Windows sound settings and when clicking "Test" it should work judging by the green bars that go up and down.

Choosing an external sound source in the TV settings itself also doesn't solve the issue.

    What is the problem here?

    Hi,

Do you have sound when plugging earphones ? Verify if your front panel is connected correctly on the Mother Board. Sometimes disabling front panel jack detection fixes the problem.

Thanks for the fast reply. Earphones are working fine when connected to the front panel.

Ok, are you able to use any other audio source to try on your TV ? You must switch to DVI in your input manager.

I think you may also need incoming DVI video signal for the port to be enabled.

Can you give the Model No ?

    Hello JohnnyGui,

Does that same TV input work if you try a different audio source using the same cable? Have you tried turning the output volume up on PC and TV?

    1. Disabling the front panel detection doesn't fix it

    2. I have tried other audio sources (phone and laptop) connected to the TV and it's still not working. The cable itself is working fine which I verified by connecting a headphone to it from the PC. I think the TV needs some tweaking

    3. Where do I switch it to DVI exactly? Do I need a DVI cable for that?

    4. The Samsung TV model is UE40D6200

There is also a second 3.5mm connector on the TV which shows a headphone icon, but connecting it to that instead also doesn't give any sound.

I have tried different audio sources but no avail. The audio cable is working fine when connecting it to headphones.

Seems to possibly be an issue with the TV input or audio cable it's expecting then.
