Help! Automatic standby mode renders speakers useless

On 25 March 2013 I purchased my Creative Labs Gigaworks T20 Series 2 speakers from Amazon.co.uk and they are plugged into my Windows 10 Home PC version 20H2 via the audio jack on the motherboard.

The problem is that these speakers have unfortunately been caught by the ErP (Energy related products) regulations in the EU, which means they switch to standby mode if no audio input is detected via the aux-in/line-in after a specific amount of time, around 10 minutes. This annoyance means alerts are often missed as the speakers take around 4 seconds to "warm up" again once a sound is detected, virtually rendering the speakers as useless.
Now that the UK has left the EU is there anything anyone can advise which will override this annoyance on these otherwise excellent speakers.
I have contacted Creative Labs, and they are unable to help at present but are aware of this issue. I have also searched online and see it is not an uncommon problem but hesitate to download and install something I don’t understand just in case.

Sadly that does not work. Creative suggested this I guess this is meant for people who are playing music very quietly, When working on the PC, writing or editing photos etc there is no sound, other than alerts for Emails etc so however high the volume is turned up there are periods of silence which are longer than 10 minutes and then the Standby mode is activated.

What is needed is something to prevent the Standby mode having a timed cycle...

I guess you could try having some form of auto playing continuously to keep the bloody speakers happy unless CU gives you a fix - which they probably won't - what a PITA

Certainly is a PITA. When Updating Windows you need to listen out for alerts but cannot play music to keep the speakers active

Yucky solution would be to have an external audio source constantly playing a possibly inaudible signal (whatever it take to fool the speakers) and combine it with the PC audio output - let's waste more money and energy trying to defeat this idiotic energy saving concept they've implemented.

Definitely a yucky solution. At least Creative Labs are aware and can only hope that they will release a patch that will override this Standby nonsense.

How I wish I hadn’t replaced my speakers in 2013. This EU regulation makes no sense for audio equipment.
