Consolidated install of all required visual basic c++ files possible?

My ad remove program applet shows so many visual basic C++ and visual studio installations over the years.

How relevant are they today? (I run windows 10 x64 bit fully updated)

Can i uninstall them and do a consolidated install of ALL or uninstall the irrelevant ones and reinstall only those that are relevant (with your advice) or uninstall all and install (later) on demand ?

Also what is visual studio used for i have 2010 and 2012 (32 bit and 64 bit ) versions installed too

Thanks for any guidance and advice on this issue

Your applications will have installed the version of Visual C++ they needed. You'd have to examine the specs of each application to find out which one required which version so you could remove any unnecessary ones. That would answer your question but would be an awful lot of work for no discernible reward.

My advice is to forget it and do something more useful instead.

Thank you - my objective in asking this question was because I have trialed, used and uninstalled several programs over the years. On uninstall of programs the runtimes are not uninstalled. I would not remember which runtime file set was associated with which software.

I now have a new laptop with windows 10 (updated). My older laptop (same build version of Windows 10) runs an identical set of programs. But the new laptop does not have any runtime files installed as seen in Programs and Features. Does this mean that the runtimes are not needed on my older laptop and may be uninstalled?

    Some discussions:

windows - Why are there so many different Visual C++ redistributables? - Super User

You might be able to determine the dependencies of each program installed using this:
    Analyzing dependencies with Dependency Walker

and hence eventually determine which VC++ run times are no longer required.

Even if you were to uninstall each program you uninstalled with an uninstaller that also removed the associated run time, this could cause a problem for another program that also required the same runtime.

It is possible that you could uninstall them all, and rely on the programs using these run times to then report their absence, thus prompting you to install the run-time required.

You could then keep an appropriate record for future uninstalls.

Well, that's if you have a lot of spare time on your hands, a point addressed by @Try3

Should you install PDF, audio, video, office software, if you do not have related files at the moment?
That is, what you are basically asking. It is better to have them installed than to look for them later.
A lot of software uses only certain DLLs and they do not necessarily install the whole package.
I prefer to keep it updated for security reasons. For example 2015/7 were replaced by 2019.
