    Burning Software help

I just got a Dell laptop with a dvd/cd burner and tried to install my Roxio burning software and kept receiving the message about "no drive is enabled, please enable a drive". I uninstalled Roxio and tried googling a solution and found that Windows 10 came with burning software and showed how to use that one. It worked, but I just do not like it. The thing is I would like to uninstall that one and install my Roxio favorite. How do I find this one that is installed and can it be uninstalled?? It is not listed in Programs and Features for uninstalling. Why on earth would the drive be able to see that burning software but not the one I want???!!! Please, if anyone knows how to get rid of it, for the love of all that is decent, please let me know! Thank you!

You can't uninstall it......as it is part of the OS. Next, what version of your Roxio software are you trying to install?

CD burning is included in Windows since XP but it's not interfering with third party SW. Did you check for an update ?

I've always installed Roxio Easy CD and DVD Burning [about $40 at Wal*Mart] in my Windows computers, never a conflict with the built-in feature, just has more features I have use for such as better burning of DL discs. Then there's the free CDBurnerXP program, has worked OK on a couple of Notebooks I put it on.

Have you verified that the DVD drive installed in the laptop is a model supported by Roxio, especially if you are attempting to install an older version of it?

I had no idea that it was a PART of windows ! I have learned a lot today. I was trying to install an older version, and learned today that I could check to see if it will install on this cd/dvd drive. With all this new knowledge I know I can get to the bottom of it! Thank you so much for responding!
