    Frustrating App/Utility

    Hello all..

I have a new laptop which is just great. I have returned to Windows after 8 years of OSX.

Once I started and set up my Windows 10 account when I open a window or app and try and move it on the desktop I get a small widow appearing roughly where the mouse pointer is. See attached. I understand what it does but its a pest as you cant really freely move your windows around without this pest of a utility resizing it for you.

I have searched everywhere on my machine for a clue as to what it is or how I can switch it off...

Has anyone seen this an know what it is and how I can get rid of it.

    Best wishes

Hi, never seen anything like that. How do I get one...? :)

    So:
    a. was '10 installed on your laptop when you bought it?
    b. did this occur as soon as you had set up a user account, or after you had installed other software?
    c. do you have System Restore turned on (it's stupidly off by default in '10) and if so do you have any usable restore points?
    d. does this happen after a clean boot?

    e. Can you describe this more exactly - for example, if you launch Wordpad, and then try to drag the Wordpad window across the screen, do you see this in place of the Wordpad Window?

    Thanks.

    Crappy window manager arranger!

    a. The machine is brand new. An MSI Apache Pro with Windows 10 pre installed.
    b. It appeared as soon as I started using the system...
    c. No restore point set. Yet.
    d. Just found out about how to do a Clean Boot so will try that.
    e. So you open a file explorer window, app, anything. Grab the top of any window to move it and this stupid box pops up and follows you around. If you stray into the box the window you are dragging snaps to the size of the grid window you go in. Ahhh its so naff and so stupid

Worst of all there is no clue how to switch it of or configure it. Its driving me mad.

    Found it... Solved!

This is a utility by Portrait Displays Inc. Manufactures bundle it in with their own color/desktop managers. I only found it through extensive research and found that a Dell user was having the same problem. I have an MSI machine and it is bundled together with MSI True Color which allows you to simply change the colour temp of the display and they have bundled this rubbish in and called it Screen Partition.. What a load of old rubbish!!!

    SOLVED AND BINNED!!!

Great- always best to eliminate unnecessary stuff bundled with Windows on a new machine.
