You don't need Magician for the drive to work just fine. You may not get all the advanced features, but the drive will be plenty fast.

Samsung are really good when it comes to making SSD's, but as a company pretty sucky and in particular their software side of things has always been a let down. As the above poster said, just plug the SSD into your PC and let Windows take care of it. Forget Samsung Magician, I've been using Samsung SSD's for about four years now and they've been fine with Windows taking care of them.

Back when Windows 8 was released, they done the same. Everyone knew when Windows 8 was going to be released to the general public, it had already been RTM'd for a while, but yet they waited until a couple of weeks after Windows 8 had been released to the general public, then decided to release a new version of SSD Magician, which still wasn't compatiable with Windows 8.

Going by your post, it sounds like they've probably done the same again. Over a year ago, back in April 2015 Microsoft told everyone that all new Windows 10 Kernel mode drivers needed to be signed with an EV Code Signing Certificate and then submitted to the Windows Hardware Developer Center Dashboard portal to be signed in order for them to work. This policy was enforced in the Anniversary Update. Seems like like Samsung, being Samsung just decided to bury their head in the sand again. The annoying thing is we'll no doubt now see blog posts popping up telling people to disable security features in order to get around Samsung's incompetence.

Did you clean install Windows 10 / reset Windows since the 2nd August Update?

Although Samsung Electronics are headquartered in South Korea, they have an centre's all over the world. Therefore 'Samsung India Software Operations (SISO)' is likely a valid Samsung Publisher, they just haven't complied with driver signing requirements.

That's why you're seeing the issue, but people who haven't clean installed/reset Windows Anniversary Update yet are completely unaware of the issue. Unless the likes of Samsung get their act together pretty quickly, more and more people will start to see these errors as they start to reset/clean install Windows 10 with the Anniversary Update (1607).

The issue is publishers not complying with driver signing requirements, which they have known about for over a year.

    Link to MSDN Page:
Last year, we announced that beginning with the release of Windows 10, all new Windows 10 kernel mode drivers must be submitted to the Windows Hardware Developer Center Dashboard portal (Dev Portal) to be digitally signed by Microsoft. However, due to technical and ecosystem readiness issues, this was not enforced by Windows Code Integrity and remained only a policy statement.

Starting with new installations of Windows 10, version 1607, the previously defined driver signing rules will be enforced by the Operating System, and Windows 10, version 1607 will not load any new kernel mode drivers which are not signed by the Dev Portal. OS signing enforcement is only for new OS installations; systems upgraded from an earlier OS to Windows 10, version 1607 will not be affected by this change.

We’re making these changes to help make Windows more secure. These changes limit the risk of an end-user system being compromised by malicious driver software.

Although not much use to you as this is something only the Software Publisher can change, for info on the right is what correctly signed drivers look like.

i guess i have to wait 2 updates like last time so samsung can get it fixed. hehe.. :)

i totally understand that. maybe samsung is slow in it's process. i use the overprovisioning for, well, it says it increases life span and it increases performance. and rapid mode for even increased performance..

but as Mystere said in post#2 i might aswell go along with the default settings now, since the anniversary upgrade got me a bit scared since i thought something was wrong with microsoft since nothing suddenly didnt work.
