I have finally discovered the cause of this error in my system. I had disabled the Storage service and this caused my (remaining) Applications to not update through the Store. As soon as I restored the Storage service at its default state everything is working perfectly again!

    Thank you :)

Great news Joanne. I'll add a note to the tutorials for this to help others with the same issue. :)

    Hi,
I only registered to say BIG THANK YOU. I don't know why Storage service was completely disabled on my PC, but I've seen also other services that weren't properly configured after Windows 10 RS1 installation. The problem with Storage service caused, that I couldn't even install any app from Windows Storage - upon clicking "Install" on any application, Windows Store app was just exiting / crashing with no error - just like window was closed. I tried all those wsstore reset command, PowerShell commands, clearing Store cache as well as time sync fixes and of course none has helped. But one app was still on the list of apps to be downloaded, after my previous Windows 10 installation - Asphalt 8. And when I tried to "redownload" it it was always giving me 0x800706D9 error. And thanks to this I have found your solution :) . Great job on troubleshooting and digging in this overbloated sh** named "Windows 10".

I can only add that registering here was a little hassle, as for the first time my registration form was declined with reason that I haven't clicked ReCaptha (I am 101% sure I clicked it) and when I clicked it again and filled my email again it turned out that this time my "I agree to forum rules" checkbox was automatically cleared (why? what is the benefit for this?) and whole my filled form was just trashed and I had to start from scratch, filling all the details again. Great job :/
