    Looking for a screen capture/editor/text/organiser

    Hello
I'm looking suggestion for an application or software that could
    - Do a screen capture
    - Edit picture with line/text/arrow
    - Have an area to write text comments of the picture (not in the picture)
    - Able to define categories like ex: summer/winter/family
    - Able to organize /Search and display picture with categorie or text tags

It would be nice if the screen capture is within the application, but it not the screen capture or picture organizer would do the job.

    Any idea or suggestion appreciated

    Hi,

I have been using Techsmith Snagit for many years on many platforms.
The current version, v13, is optimized for Win10.
Not free, but well worth the $$ -- I think it will do everything you seek and tons more (I use it daily but barely scratch the surface of its enormous capabilities).
Excellent customer service and tech support.

Others will have different suggestions, I am sure.

    Snagit is very good.
    I also use Greenshot:

The above programs are good programs, I prefer Screenpresso though.

    Hello Essembe
I do use Screenpresso. I do use the edit option (limited) but can we tag and write comments about the picture in a separate box?

    HI again

I want to take many screen capture, edit, write comments and tags them using specific word. The goal is to be able to sort and retrieve them later by using there tag name. Like a database and do a research using specific field name.

    Hope I'm clearer

    Hi:

I do not use them heavily, but I am pretty sure Snagit allows "tags". I'm not 100% sure about the search/indexing you want to do, however. But you could probably contact Techsmith with an inquiry.
And there is a Trial version of the software.
The Editor is VERY powerful, with many tools and default stamps.
Also, AFAIK a paid license permits installation on 2 computers in the same household. So it is a very good deal.

(The other programs sound fine, too.)

    Cheers,

As far as I know, Screenpresso does not use tags. As @MoxieMomma said, Snagit will. If you saved them in One Note or Evernote they should be searchable. You would have to look at both programs and see which fits your needs best. They are both very good programs, but have different capabilities.

    Is Screenpresso safe?

For many years I was using 'Capture' to save screen dumps. A simple easy to use program. Every file had the date and time as part of the file name.

But when I bought a Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10 and a higher resolution screen, Capture would only save part of the screen. Probably due to a pixel limit within Capture.

I was recommended 'Screenpresso'. This is much more complex, far beyond my simple screen grab need. But does a good job or so I thought, until when I was unable to find missing screen dumps.

    However, I've noticed pop-ups from
Screenpresso that tell me it needs an internet connection to work properly. So I tested it and discovered that without my Mi-Fi internet being active, files are not saved. This explains why I have been unable to find screen dumps that I'd made - they just were not being saved, with no warning.

Why does the internet have to be available? Only one explanation makes sense - Screenpresso is gathering data from my laptops.

Searching the internet has mainly good results for security, but I did fine one warning of malware.

I also use 'NetMeter' and it shows a spike when I use Screenpresso. So what is being sent?

    Any comments' please.
