When I go into the control panel to set default apps, and pick a type, say browser, I'd expect to see a box "always use this app" in the pop up window. There is none, and so clicking on an app has absolutely no affect. I am logged into an ADMIN account. How do I get that box back?
You will see that "always use this app" option ONLY if you are using the Open With right click Context Menu.
You won't see that "always use this app" option if you are using Control Panel > Default programs > Set your default programs.

If you use "Choose Default Apps" fro Settings, - that's broken. If you use Control Panel Default Programs Set Your Default Programs, that works normally. So I'm not 'stuck' - just annoyed that the Settings method has no effect whatsoever. Though after you change it in Control Panel, the Settings view reflects the changes I made.
