    Hi,

    Amazing story.

The .xml files are just template files. They're absence or presence should not affect the backup/restore protocol.

    Cheers,

Their absence would not affect a restore function, but would indeed prevent a scheduled backup from running.

    Hi,

    True.
Macrium even offers the possibility of taking a back up of your templates should you want to.

That piece of software is truly a godsend. Pretty brilliant if you'd asked me.

    Cheers,

Agreed 110%! I don't know what I'd do without it!

Post close: > fodder for the conspiracy ;-)

All syncbackSE profiles ran successfully last night. This morning I added a new profile, the OS password was required as usual and my 'new' OS password (vs. the 'lost' local) was accepted as expected.

That means that *both passwords worked for the profiles last night: the 'lost' local and the new MS password.

    Tell you something ?

    Update--Reflect's abiility to count

    Getting back as mentioned earlier--

After reinstalling, creating a profile using the existing external drive/directory as the destination (already containing n images), I now confirm that the software does perform a file count on an existing location.

    Hi,

Just open Macrium Reflect, on the top left you will see the menu bar. Click Backup, Templates.

    Cheers,
