Cannot verify Java in IE 11 Windows Server 2012 R2
Hello!
Sorry since this is not relevant to Windows 10, but I post here in hope that someone knows and can help since Google is not always helpful...
I got my hands on Windows Server 2012 R2 this weekend. I installed on a customer's server and before I give it to him, I thought I would compare it to Windows 8.1 and 10 and see the similarities and differences. The first thing I noticed was that I could not change the desktop icons unless I enabled the Desktop Experience Feature first. I then noticed that it could accept Windows 8 drivers, as expected, and it could run almost anything that can be run on Windows 8/10. Then it might be my idea, but I think it is somewhat faster than running Windows 8/10 on the same hardware. Probably this is because most features are disabled by default making it lighter than a full-featured Windows 8 installation.
Now my question: I installed Flash, Java and Silverlight, mostly to check compatibility. I noticed that Java installed successfully (both 32-bit and 64-bit version, just in case) but when trying to verify Java installation in Internet Explorer 11 I get a message that is not installed or disabled! I checked both in IE settings and in Java Control Panel, it is enabled and of course there is registered in Programs and Features! Am I missing something?
Thank you in advance and excuse me for the off-topic post.
