    Windows Store doesn't open

Hey, I had some trouble with my Windows Store for the last month, so it looks like that (view the pic) and i could not open any Apps or Store and also the Windows Store Symbol were invisible, also i did a powershell repair to fix it but there is a bug in Windows 10 V 1511 (powershell):
    Windows Store doesn't open-app-fehler004b.jpg
(That was the look before the Update)

    Today:
Then there were some Updates from Microsoft for Windows 10 the last days and know i can open the apps and the Windows Store Symbol is visible. There is just one Problem I have now, when i open the Windows Store, the Store open and close in the same second. I readed about that Error, but not after the Update fix from Microsoft. I don't know if I have to use powershell or if I have to reset something and also i dont wanna destroy the progress of the new Update. I hope someone could help me, if i forgot something just ask.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Runout :)

Hello Runout, and welcome to Ten Forums.

I'm afraid it looks like you're going to need to do a repair install from what I see in your screenshot to fix your apps without losing anything.

Hi, I think you mean now that the @ signs have disappeared and you've successfully run a powershell command to repair or reinstall them.

However, the Store is not working.
    Whilst you can try this:
    Store - Re-register in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

I suspect you may end up having to do an in-place upgrade repair install.

    Here are my notes:
Precede it with this in case sthg has happened to your file system:

Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)
    chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Make sure the result is clear or fixed.
Post back the result, which will be on the screen briefly.
Otherwise you can get the result as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!

An In-place upgrade repair install will fix many things, but not those where the settings are not changed by the procedure.

For this you need an installation medium with the same base build as you have installed.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

This will refresh Windows, after the manner of a Windows installation.
    - all/most associations will be unchanged
    - all your programs will be left installed
    - you will lose any custom fonts
    - you will lose any customised system icons
    - you may need to re-establish your Wi-Fi connection
    - you will need to redo Windows updates subsequent to the build you have used for the repair install
    - Windows.old will be created
    - system restore will be turned off- you should turn it on again and I recommend you manually schedule a daily restore point.
    - you will need to redo any language downloads including the display language if you changed that)
    - inactive title bar colouring (if used) will be reset to default
    - if Qttabbar is installed, you need to re-enable it in explorer (Options, check Qttabbar)
This is one of the better features of Win10: as each major build comes out, that's your updated reference build, and as updates are mostly cumulative, there will be few to do.

    Recommendation:
Before you perform this major repair procedure, do create a disk image.

Please consider using disk imaging regularly. It's a brilliant way to
    - preserve your system (and your sanity)
    - back up your data
    - restore your system to a previously working state in a relatively short time

Recommended: Macrium Reflect (free/commercial) + boot disk/device + large enough external storage medium.

I think that means that i could do a powershell without a bug know, this was actually my only question. Here is a new picture to show the difference between the old Situation before the new update:

(pic from 15 of May 2016)

I will try a powershell and will post the progress.

Hi, the first URL in my post gave you a Powershell command. Here it is again:
    Store - Re-register in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

If you read my script on in-place upgrade repair install you will see that keeps all programs.

I think you're saying your problem is solved. Good.

You will not lose your installed apps when you do a repair install. :)

If you Store is working now, then there's no need to re-register the Store.

Did you also solve the issue with the odd package names in your Start menu All apps?

Hello! I noticed I have the same problem, Windows Store doesn't open, so I tried the in-place upgrade using the Anniversary Edition ISO. I have Windows 10 Pro v1607 Build 14393.447 (see my specs). Didn't work, Windows Store still opens and closes immediately. Some games that I have downloaded in the past load and either close as well or are stuck at the logo. I tried the re-register command in Windows PowerShell and I got this error:

    Windows Store doesn't open-windows-store-re-register-error.jpg

Anything else to try? Of course I want to avoid a clean installation! I have tons of programs to re-install, I would rather never use Windows Store and Windows apps again! Isn't there any way to re-install only the Windows Store? I didn't find anything relevant in Programs and Features...

    Any help appreciated.

PS: Last night I tried the sfc - dism commands but didn't make any difference. I even tried the suggestions in the reinstall Windows Store thread, nothing changed. I keep looking for ideas in Google, so far no luck. Please help!

SOLUTION: I browsed to C:\Program Files and then took ownership of the WindowsApps folder, subfolders and files. I then found that the Users group entry in Security was corrupt. I removed that entry and added it again. Although not necessary, just to be sure I gave full access to Administrators group, Users group and my account. I then used the PowerShell command to re-register all the apps, as described in the relevant thread, just in case. Now the Windows Store opens without any issue! Success! I hope this will save you time and frustration.
