The free version of Glary Utilities doesn't take your money and actually does something. Most of its functions can be done in Windows but Glary's UI is much simpler to use.

One can always avoid having to a clean reinstall simply by making an image prior to making any changes or running a program that might make fatal changes. An image restore is much faster and easier than a reinstall.

Really? I find the free version to be quite the opposite.
    You may be right.
I should confess, I haven't used it for ages so, perhaps my opinion carries no weight!
My apologies, I will edit my previous post. :)

It isn't a matter of being able to do it yourself. In most cases you'd be better off not doing it at all.

Now if you want to defragment and clean your registry, clean your RAM, disable pre-fetch, change the size of your page file, set random services to manual because blackviper said to do so XP, make a RAM-disk and force kernel modules into memory then by all means go ahead. At best you'll end up with a system that doesn't perform much worse than it would anyway (although it will be less stable) and at least you're not harming anyone else and hopefully having fun.

Read my post you quoted again. I was not talking about this offer, which by the way is the full Pro version. I was talking about various tune-up utilities in general.

Of course I know this one offer "does not take your money". I'm the OP of this thread, I posted the freebie offer although personally objecting the type of software it represents but because I thought some users might want to test it.

Somehow I have to admire the way you quite often take words of me and some other members totally out of the context and twist their meaning. That's quite an easy although not so clever way to get an argument where no argument is needed.

...uncheck the registry cleaner and the disk repair, use the one-click maintenance every couple of weeks...much better than a user that will not learn the manual ways of keeping a clean machine... and the Disk Defragmenter in the Advanced Tools tab is much faster than Windows included defrag...

I was about to apologize for misunderstanding your post until I read the last paragraph above. The first sentence was completely untrue and the second one out of line since it was not my intent to start an argument, especially not for the sake of having an unfounded argument. Those last two sentences are also ironic, if not hypocritical, in that they come from someone who has his own penchant for ruffling feathers and that the post of yours I had responded from could also be considered out of context since the thread was about Glary Utilities, not various tune-up utilities in general.

It's like an extended free trial, which is good marketing on their part.
