Will Classic Shell work on Windows 10

I would like to use Classic Shell with Windows 10. A search of the web found an article entitled something like "Microsoft Blocks Classic Shell" and I didn't understand all of it..

What is the experience with using Classic Shell with Windows 10?

    Thank you.

They say they officially support W10 on their site.

I've read of some users here in the forums using it without problem. You could set a restore point, install it and see how it works for your system.

I've used Classic Shell since Day One with Windows 10. ZERO issues. In fact, when I did the upgrade from 8.1, it imported all my settings, although I had to tweak a few for some 10 diff's. Download from davidhk's mfr link, not a 3rd party. The writer is a forum member here too, if you search.

That was likely an old article. There was a short time during the Windows 10 preview when Classic Shell was blocked due to compatibility issues but that is no longer the case. No doubt many members of this forum are using Classic Shell with Windows 10.

It's fine, and even lets you launch universal apps from a folder if you select the option.
And you can launch the Win 10 start menu with a hotkey combination

I have just upgraded to a release version of Windows 10.

I can run the Classic Shell OK on Windows 10 64 bit, but if I run the Classic Shell on a 32 bit version I get a red banner popup saying that 'An administrator has blocked the application'.

Is there a way that I can ensure that Classic Shell is not blocked on Windows 10 32 bit?

    excerpt : Source
System Requirements Classic Shell works on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and their server counterparts (Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016). Both 32 and 64-bit versions are supported. The same installer works for all versions.
Note: Windows RT is not supported.

Make sure you have the latest version 4.2.5

I do have that version, and I can only run it if I use 'net user administrator'.

It's good that you happened to mention 32-bit Windows as your System Specs is incomplete.

Question: did you install Classic Shell as a User with Administrative Rights? There should be no issues and no need to log into the hidden [by default] Administrator. At least that was all that was needed on the several installs I've done for clients. A Standard User shouldn't be able to install it.
