There is a known problem that sometimes the Windows start menu doesn't work with the beta.
This thread has a patch for the 64-bit version: http://www.classicshell.net/forum/vi...hp?f=19&t=6081

I have not heard about the problem with programs failing to run. What exactly program are you talking about? What if you don't press Enter, but instead click on the program in the list of the search results - will it run then?

Classic Shell should not affect the sound in any way. It was most likely the reboot that fixed it.

maybe it was, but it happened just after installing it.

i'll give it another go, as i'm not that keen on Win 10 graphics, seems so clinical

    Ivo,

When you're online, is there a setting so when i press Shut Down, it actually shuts down the PC instead of having the other pop up windows with the options?

i know there's the expanding arrow for the other options at the side of it?

If you are using the Windows 7 style you can change the default action for the button from the Main Menu tab in the settings.

If you are using the Classic style you have to edit the menu items in the Customize Start Menu tab and change the action for the button.

I have used Classic Shell on many fresh installs of Windows 10. 32 bit or 64 bit. without having to run the app as admin. This is the first thing I do when I install or update Windows 8, 8.1 or 10
Right click the Classic Shell.exe shortcut and choose Properties/Compatibility tab, put a check in Run This Program As Administrator.
