    I don't use the built-in Photos app.
    It is not to be mistaken for Windows Photo Viewer which is part of Windows 7 but discontinued in Windows 10.

    Here is an article detailing on how to use it..... by Microsoft.
    Photos app for Windows help
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/w...photos-app-faq

    It may not answer your question. Sorry.

    By default, files are shown either by alphabetical order or by numbers.
    use that as a guide when you save them to your folder.
    I saved all my pictures by numbers. Therefore, #1 will be the oldest one, #2 will be the 2nd oldest, and so on.

    example :

    In your picture folder if you number them
    like
    000
    001
    002
    etc
    But leave the .jpg
    Once done click Save
    Then when you show them via Photo App
    Or WPV
    They will then show oldest first, with newest last

    If I sort pictures in a folder that I want to view oldest to newest (choose detail view), then they will be shown in this order also in photo view app.
    just checked it out. I'm on Insider version of Windows, but should be the same.

    Add Classic Photo Viewer. Run this:

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Photo Viewer\Capabilities\FileAssociations]

    ".bmp"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
    ".dib"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
    ".gif"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
    ".jfif"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
    ".jpe"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
    ".jpeg"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
    ".jpg"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
    ".jxr"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"
    ".png"="PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\Image Preview]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\Image Preview\Command]
    @="%SystemRoot%\\System32\\rundll32.exe \"%ProgramFiles%\\Windows Photo Viewer\\PhotoViewer.dll\", ImageView_Fullscreen %1"

    For what I think you're trying to do (change order of Collection View), you can't.

    The 'Collection View' in the Photos App shows the photos in Newest First 'Date Taken' order for digital photos, and Newest First 'Date Created' order for scanned photos (unless you specifically add 'Date Taken' dates to the scanned photo's metadata fields).

    At the moment, I think the reason why they won't let you change the order is so that when you add new photos, they appear at the top and you don't have to scroll all the way to the to the bottom to see your latest photos. On a PC with a mouse it's not such a problem as you can drag the scroll bar to the bottom, but on Windows 10 Mobile where it won't allow you to drag the scroll bar, it'll take forever to get the bottom by flicking the touch screen, especially if you have thousands of photos. I guess if they allowed you to drag the scroll bar on Windows 10 Mobile, then they could potentially allow the user to choose the sort order of their choice.

    The next option in the Photos App is 'Folders View'. Until recently, it was possible to use the 'Folders View' and then choose the sort order of folders, however it was painful to use as there wasn't a way to change the sort order for lots of folders/subfolders/files at once, you had to do it for each individual folder, which made it pretty much unusable. But they removed the option to do this recently anyway. However, as it stands now, 'Folders View' sorts folders by Ascending Name order, so if you've named your folders in reverse date order (I.E. 2010-2019 > 2016.03.30 Name), it will show the folders correctly for how you want them (by oldest first), and photos in this view are displayed in Ascending 'Date Taken' order, therefore as long as they're not scans they will be correct for how you want them (by oldest first).

    As mentioned, you can't choose your own orders in the app, not even in 'Folders View' anymore, so if for example you want to sort by some other order (I.E. If you have scanned photos named in reverse date order such as 1980.01.30-IMG_0001.jpg and want to sort by name), as others have mentioned, you'll need to use Windows File Explorer. If you change the sort order of a folder in Windows File Explorer and then open one of the photos, it will then display the photos from that folder by that order as you scroll though them.

    However, unfortunately you won't be able to do what I think you're looking to do (just flick through loads of photos from lots of different folders like you can in 'Collection View' of the app, but in your own chosen sort order). When using both 'Folders View' and Windows File Explorer, you'll need to go in and out of the individual folders.

    You are correct, you can't change the order in app itself. I'm kinda old school guy, and mostly start app from explorer, where you can chose the order:
    If you start viewing from folder in explorer, photo app will show in selected order (strange huh?)
    But you loose some functionality...

    I was using the windows photo gallery,But I made a mess of that I tried to work out the tab setup and made a terrible mess of that.
    Is there anyway that I can delete all the tags that I have made in the WPG??. Please.

    Thank You all once again.
