I tried the indexing rebuild but it doesn't seem to do anything or kick anything off. Just says about how it might take a long time, I click Ok and then back to the screen attached straight away, Any other ideas?

Hi, can you confirm you are not now getting "search results are not complete" as per your first post, given the indexing is complete?

Now, considering Indexing Options in the Control Panel - here's mine

    - pretty much default - just the 'Test Search' added.

So is your problem still the response to clicking on what's found? Not sure where we're up to here..

It does look as though you've made changes to what's indexed. It's important to leave some part of what's in Users alone, as that indexes Settings, for example.

No I have never touched it before. I get the same issues as in my very first post/screenshot unfortunately

Indexing is something that goes on in the background, I can't believe it actually re-indexed that fast! I'd be a bit suspicious either that the index rebuild was not triggered or that it is still happening in the background and you will not see the benefit until it has finished.

Ok thanks, I'll click rebuild again and let it be for a while. It just doesn't give the impression it's doing anything at all

You can check in Task Manager and see what processes are running and consuming resources, the indexer should be increasing CPU and disk activity.

I tried it again, but nothing springing into life! CPU activity at 1% and nothing in task manager relating to indexing. HD is quiet too. I'll leave it a bit but it doesn't look promsing!

Here is the process which I think does the indexing in my Task Manager, may be you have this turned off or disabled. Look in the Details tab for SearchIndexer.exe or the Services tab for WSearch

In services I have Windows Search set up as shown below:

Ok thanks, I'll take a look. Really appreciate you sharing that - at least I know where to look now. I'm going to give computer a load of idle time - it's new and I've been hitting it non stop with installations setting up etc

Under Indexing Options you could try troubleshooting (my post #6).
