Using Fireworks CS5 or CS6 as default app for jpg files

I use Adobe Fireworks a lot to edit jpg and other files. They need admin in order to open files. Windows 10 will not allow me to set Fireworks as default jpg editor. There are lots of posts thet tell one how to do it but I have not found one that works at all. Fireworks CS5 needs admin to run also. Has anyone else had any success doing this?

Are you logged in as Admin (Your user id with admin right) ?
I am surprised why Firework need to run as Admin but if that's the case then just right click on firework.exe->Properties->Compatitbility and put a check mark on "Run as Admin".
To set JPG to open in Firework as default, right click on a JPG image->Open With->Choose another App. If Firework is on the list then hi lite and put a check mark on "Always use this app to open .jpg files". If not on the list then scroll to the bottom and click on "More Apps" and browse to firework.exe to select.

Not quite so I am afraid

I did what you said, and set Fireworks 5.1 to run as administrator. If I click on it, it still asks me to agree and then works. If I click on a jpg file and follow the procedure above, the program that launches is not fireworks 5.1 but fireworks 4. This is an incompatible program according to windows and generates lots of errors and won't run, even if I have selected Fireworks 5.1 to run jpg files

5.1 opens OK and loads and can edit jpg files, but only if I open the program first.
Perhaps I need to reboot after making the changes. Will try and get back.
