    Couldn't click Start, fix has caused other problems

    Hi all,

    This morning I couldn't click the Start button or anything on the taskbar. I found a fix on Youtube which was to open an Admin cmd prompt and type:

    Commands to type:

    Command 1: powershell

    (with command 2 and 3 if after pasting you notice a dash or a hyphen after AppXManifest-, remove it (remove the dash or hyphen after AppXManifest) )

    Command 2: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"*}

    Command 3: Get-AppxPackage | % { Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppxManifest.xml" -verbose }

    It fixed the problem, but now none of the MS apps work, nor can I do anything with them or use the Store. For example, instead of Store I now have @{Microsoft.WindowsStore_2015... etc

    Anyone come across anything like this before?

    -Edit_

    Just checked in Add / Remove programs and now there are a dozen programs that just say Microsoft Corporation and are marked Unavailable.

    You'll need to download a Windows ISO and do a repair install. It will keep your programs and files but replace these corrupt store apps.

    It is fairly common problem unfortunately - especially if you try fixing things with powershell
