Windows Store won't open after update this morning

Windows Store won't launch. I had it open, checked for updates (I have pro and it set to not install them automatically). It found an update for the actual store so I pressed to download. It went through it's thing and then closed the window automatically. I then tried to relaunch it but it just flashes for a mili second and refuses to open. What should I do?

I logged in with my wife's user id and it is launching ok from hers. It's my user id that is creating the problem! Trouble is I cannot start using a new id as everything is setup for mine.

    Thanks
    Wayne

What a nightmare but I think I got somewhere. All can say is NEVER try and update the store like this when open. I tried the tutorial on repairing the store using the BAT file. Just got far worse as store corrupted for all user accounts. Luckily a restore point from last week got me back in business. Although the other users were still corrupt. As they are seldom used I removed these family accounts and later recreated new users for them. All seems ok.

then I changed store updates setting back to auto. I think the store update then silently installed in the background and things seem OK.

You can try to restore the availability of your App Store with one command.

Open the Start menu and in the Search field enter Powershell.
Right click the Powershell icon, and choose Run as administrator.
    Enter: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}.
Press Enter to execute the command.

Thank you. If it ever happens again I will run that command first. Out of interest the text looks like it relates to all users. Should just one user account be corrupt for store how would that text change?

Beware using that Powershell command- it breaks a number of apps from build 10586 on... (see several reports in this forum). Hopefully it will work correctly when MS fixes it.

Ok thanks. What a mission MS makes all this. Thankfully restore point saved the day. MS has not covered themselves with glory over the store integration to desktop Windows 10. Those native apps along with store itself seem like they are held together with elastic bands!!

Ok, glad it went ok for you. Was a nightmare on my side. Do you let your apps auto update or are you set to manual? I notice on occasions on auto update the Microsoft native apps get stuck on updating. Non MS apps are always fine but sometimes I have to re trigger the download under updates. I tend to notice when I try to launch an app and it does the same milli second flash and doesn't open. If I then go to store I see the offending app stuck at updating. Manually pausing and clicking download gets it going again. Noticed it happen in calculator and photos app before!

    How I do it is
Once a day check store for any updates.
If any appear then I just click them
Then watch each one update themselves
So far each one has updated ok

Its not normal for it to cause this problem when updating the store

Normally if the store is open when you try and update it, it says failed update, close the store and it updates itself then it the background

for me if I check for updates and notice the store gas an update, I close the store down, wait a good while while it updates everything, then open store back up
