Win10Pro Weather Live Tile Works Properly But Opens Blank

Hello. I am using Windows 10 Professional edition. Following some random Windows Update a few months ago, my default Windows 10 weather app (the one that can be pinned to the start menu) displays the temperature properly and updates regularly, however, if I click to open it, it opens blank....basically, the window is just the blue background with the little icon of the sun in the center.

This app used to work 100% before.

Lastly, I remember my calendar app not opening at all when Windows 10 was fresh. It would immediately close upon opening the calendar app. However, following some random Windows Update, the calendar app started working properly.

I "upgraded" to Windows 10 from 8.1, but I did a FULL install and chose to "save nothing" from 8.1, so it is about as legit as it can get to being a full installation and not an upgrade.

PS, it doesn't seem to matter if I enable to disable background data for the Weather app in privacy settings. I have tried it out both ways, and either way, on or off, the live tile for the weather app still updates, but opens blank and won't show me the large view when I click on it.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I don't use any other apps, I have not downloaded any other apps from the app store, and I have deleted some of the apps that came with Windows 10. I prefer to use my web browser for most things. I'm old school!

Have you tried an uninstall/reinstall? That often resolves quite a few app issues.

I would toss it and go with Singers Creations Weather Watcher Live.

It is actually a bug in the code for the app. Especially if you use a third party Internet Security software. You are better off instead of using the old school Metro apps that were buggy to begin with, to use a task Icon tool like Weather Watcher Live. I have used Mike Singer's program before he started to charge for it, and he has always been quick to respond if there is an issue with his software.

If he's referring to the MSN weather app it's working fine for me in two versions of 10.

I don't think that it's the MSN weather app. However, it is the only weather app that came pre-loaded with Windows 10. I believe it uses Accuweather and a few other weather websites. Last time I was able to check the "about" section of the app it listed more than one weather source. But of course, I can't check that now.

EDIT - Yes, it is indeed the MSN weather app after all. I went to the app store and searched for MSN weather app, and it says already installed, and it looks identical to the app in their preview photos. I don't see any "downloads or updates" that I am missing either.

I also cannot uninstall it, to attempt to reinstall it. The buttons to uninstall this app are disabled.

    Code:
    Get-AppxPackage *bingweather* | Remove-AppxPackage
Run that from an elevated powershell prompt.

I actually never got around to completing this command. Was still having the issue as of yesterday evening. This morning I logged on, and noticed that the live tile in the start menu reverted back to Washington DC (which seems to be the default location?)

So I clicked on it and it opened back up to the full view and automatically reverted back to my custom chosen location, and the full view WORKED.

Maybe Microsoft finally released some sort of update?

I checked Windows Update last night and the only update that was available was for Windows Defender definitions.

I'll have to check back on my Father's PC the next time I am visiting to see if his is working as well. He has Win10 Home, I have Win10 Pro.
