Help with screen shots formats and also Snipping Tool

    Hello,

Have some questions related to each other. Is there any way to change the automatic format that Windows 10 saves all the screen shots in from .png to something else like either .gif or .jpg?

Also, is there any way to pin the Snipping Tool to my Start Menu in Windows 10? I have an option to pin it to my task bar when I right click on the icon when I have the tool launched but there is no option on the right click menu to select for pin to Start Menu. I am also wondering where it is located in my system because my start menu list doesn't have an "accessories" group in it the way Win 10 or XP had.

    Thank you for your help..........

After screenshot is taken, you have to save it by either clicking File or option similar to that > select Save As > at Save as type , click the pointer at far right > scroll to find jpg > click it > click Save.

Not "accessories". It's under Windows Accessories.

Right click at Snipping Tool > Pin to Start.

    Awesome! Thanks for the tip!

Ahhhhh!!!! Now I see them........and as for pinning to the start menu - I did a search of my Windows folder on my "C:" drive and found the location of the .exe file for the tool and was able to right click and pin it to my start menu. Now I only need to figure out how to change the default that Win 10 saves the screen shots as from .png to something (anything) else.

    Thanks

I showed you how to save screenshot in jpg format.
    Didn't you read that ?

You don't have to go to C drive in order to pin it to Start Menu.
Windows Accessories > RIGHT click at Snipping Tool > Pin to Start.

    My bad on two points........

    Hiya,

First "My Bad" is because I didn't read what you wrote! Silly me!

Second "My Bad" is because I wasn't clear in what I initially asked about.......the format situation was regarding when the process is done by using the "prt sc" button not through using the Snipping Tool.........

    Thanks & sorry.....

That's ok. As long as you have the questions sorted out.

If no further questions, please mark this thread as Solved.
    Thank you.

Still wondering how to change the default file type for the "prt sc"

    Hello,

I am still seeking an answer how to change the default file type for screen shots created using the print screen button. Currently my W10 system creates the file as a .png and I would prefer either a .gif or a .jpg.

    Thank you,
