Can I customize the list of suggest apps in the "Open with" menu?

    [Windows 10 Home x64, v2004]

I'm editing a lot of hard copy documents that were scanned to .PDF, and using Word to do the editing.
In 'My Documents' when I right-click the document, the Open with menu does not show Word in the initial list of suggested apps.
I have to click Choose another app, then scroll down to click More apps, then click OK.
Is there a way to make Word appear in the initial context menu, instead of having to do all that extra clicking?
(Note: I do not want to choose Always use this app.)

Are you talking about something like this? . . .

How to Add or Remove Office 2019 New Context Menu Items in Windows 10.

    I hope this helps!

Unfortunately that didn't work, even after a reboot to make sure. Nice try, though!

That looks like it will do the same thing as Always use this app, which isn't what I'm looking for. What I need is to have the option to open in Word (temporarily) to appear in the default list of Open with apps.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. Good for future reference.

New Word doc option not appearing in right click menu.

    I hope this helps!

Shame you didn't actually try it. Very well, here's an example:

I found a program offered via Open With for rtf that was inappropriate. (Presumably the authors had configured the option incorrectly. Here is before I deleted it with Default Programs Editor:

    And after:

    Can you see the difference?

Hope that's what you're looking for.

A quite different option is Nirsoft's Openwithview (free, Google) which allows you to enable/disable items, but not per extension.

Ya'll are missing the original question

Word is not in the Open with selection list. He wants to add it to that specific .pdf Open with list.

Sorry to disagree. My Post #3 gives the means to Add items.

Have a look at the screenshot. There's an 'Add' button.

In post #6 I also offered OpenwithAdd

That looks like it will do the same thing as Always use this app, which isn't what I'm looking for.
I didn't understand the OP's response, as checking that box is an additional optional action.

Anyway, I tried. I'll leave it there.

dalchina, sorry, I read cbiwebs response to Default Programs Editor and didn't actually try the program. Just tried it now and it looks to me like it will do exactly as he wants and as you said it would. My apologies.

Pretty powerful little program actually. Thanks

Edit: Played with a bit and you can't add a batch file .bat, has to be an executable .exe.

Thanks.. no problem. Almost seems that no one develops small utilities like that now.. yet being able to modify aspects of the context menu, particularly 'New' and 'Open With' can be useful.

Tried adding a random bat file to Open With list for png.. got as far as
Can I customize the list of suggest apps in the "Open with" menu?-1.png

I didn't actually confirm that and check it appeared in Open With though.

(Assuming you were referring to Open With of course).
