It didn't stick. Tried it before and after reboot. I wonder if I'm the only one that has had this problem.
Thanks

No, you are not the only one.
There is one having the same issue.
Sorry, I have no other ideas to help you.
Happy New Year.
You probably find this suggestion akin to "killing a fly with a nuclear bomb ".
However, if you have time to kill and willing to do so, perhaps doing a Repair Install would solve the nagging issue.
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
Hi, first, I have Ashampoo PC 14 - and I can associate it with a jpg using Open with + Always use, and that survives log off log on.
Second, I'm running as an admin user. Just wondering if you are?
Third, try via the old control panel, Default Programs.
E.g. Win key + X, Control Panel....
Fourth, you can see what's happening somewhat if you use
'Default Programs Editor' (freeware).
Click 'Change an extension's file type' to go to 'Select an Extension to change' and scroll down to (eg) jpg.
That will show you the program associated with the extension.
Now use some method to change that.
In 'Default Programs Editor', click Cancel and then 'Change an extension's file type' to refresh the view from the registry.
Hopefully it will be your new program.
That way you know if the change has been written to the registry.
You can then log off, log on, run Default Programs Editor and see what is associated with jpg then.
I will try the suggested fixes and report back. Thank you people for helping. I have to go to work now and will look into it after.
