A few apps crash/close as soon as they are started.

Hi guys, so a few apps are giving me issues and I can't seem to fix them.

    Problems:
Apps that completely crash or close out when I start them: Xbox, People, Phone Companion. Groove Music and Movies and TV crash on startup 99% of the time, but for whatever random reason they have opened up once or twice since I noticed the crashing and didn't crash, only to crash again when I close and reopen them.

Other: Money opens and stays open, but it says that an error has occured and clicking the refresh this page button does nothing. Weather opens, but the entire screen is blank except for a little blue circle.

The rest of the stock apps seemingly work as intended.

    What I've tried:
I've tried everything I know of.
    Code:
    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Doing this gives me this same error for most apps as the command was executing. When it's finished, it does the exact opposite of what it intends to do and breaks most apps. I've tried this a few same command a few times, sometimes the problem apps like Xbox and Groove Music work, but the rest don't. Other times most apps don't work at all. I've also tried manually removing the problem apps through Powershell and reinstalling them from the Windows store, but they still crash at startup. Wsreset.exe also does nothing either. No updates for windows or the apps in the store. I'm able to start over and try again thanks to a restore point where only the apps I listed above are broken.

    Possible causes:
I can only think of one instance that might have caused this. I downloaded and used Destroy Windows Spying, but I only selected certain options. I also added a registry key to disable Telemetry and stopped two services called Connected User Experiences and Telemetry and dmwappushsvc since I didn't want to delete them which the tool would've done. That is where my restore point is from, and unfortunately I don't have any restore points before that. I can't think why this would mess up certain apps, I did have the deletion of Metro apps disabled in the tool afterall. I have done nothing else to my computer lately, so it was either this or the Threshold 2 update.

Does anyone have more suggestions I haven't thought of, or had a similar issue but was able to fix? Thank you!

Mm, changing privacy settings and telemetry settings can lead to unexpected consequences.

I don't know if it will help much, but OO ShutUp10: download free antispy tool for Windows 10 includes an option to reset settings to factory defaults (i.e. the privacy settings over which it offers control).

    Services:
    Default settings are listed here.

Hi, can you confirm services are set to defaults, and Location is active? (Click on the action centre/notification icon bottom right, make sure the Location tile is coloured)?

First run sfc /Scannow from an elevated command prompt and advise results.
    Then do the following:
DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image - Windows 10 Forums

Then do this (noted you did it at the beginning)
    Apps - Reinstall and Re-register in Windows 8 and 10 - Windows 10 Forums[1]=Programs%20Features

Finally if no joy it's time for an in-place repair install:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums
If you've not got installation media then here's how:
Windows 10 ISO Download - Windows 10 Forums

Unfortunately using that program to restore everything to default did not fix it. It actually reset all my custom settings, so I restored it again to right after I used that first program.

That's a lot of services to check but everything looks okay upon a quick glance. Location is greyed out, because I have location disabled.

Also sfc /scannow found and repaired errors, but didn't fix the problem. Here is the log.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth came back as no component store corruption detected. Here is the log. Not sure if I should do the /restorehealth command if no corruption was found.

Like I said before, that Powershell command doesn't do what it's supposed to do. It breaks most of the apps and only sometimes fixes the ones that I have currently have problems with. Very strange how one time all the apps I currently have problems with worked, but all the other apps that currently work didn't.

Does refreshing your PC keep all your programs installed, or will I have to reinstall everything? Also I won't have to reactivate Windows right? I had trouble activating it after I upgraded to Windows 10, then did a clean install.

    Thanks for the help!

Hi, refresh = you lose things not installed from the store. E.g. desktop programs.
    Refresh Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
In place install = you keep everything bar Windows updates past what's on your installation medium
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

Once your PC has had Win 10 installed on it you can:
    install 32 bit version
install 64 bit version (provided PC supports that)
    swap the HDD
