Unchecky (freeware) can automatically uncheck boxes which would otherwise permit the installation of adware/scumware and warn of this.
Unchecky - Keeps your checkboxes clear

Hi there
quite frankly I'd steer well clear of ANY 3rd party software that "Offers" to do anything to your system --even well known things like cc-cleaner etc.
These days with cheap and fast HDD's I'd backup a system before applying updates / installing stuff so I could always restore quickly if the update / software install didn't work or I didn't like it.
Cheers

Certainly if you never let anything make changes to your PC, especially not the most risky element, the user, your PC may well live long and prosper. All you would face then is corruption through hardware error and aging, and hardware failure.
But how much fun would it be to live risk free?
Hi there
that's another (strictly non technical) issue of course -- it's up to each individual to perform their own risk assessments. As far as computers are concerned I'd keep the risk low as there are so many scams around which could cost you SERIOUS money !!!.
Remember " The price of education is expensive bit the price of Ignorance is Astronomical" -- I don't know who originally coined that phrase but it's 100% true,
Cheers
