Which, of course, can't be done if Windows won't boot. System repair options can be accessed by booting from a Windows installation disc (if you have one) or from a Windows recovery disc/drive (if you made one). I have not yet found a download for the official Microsoft recovery drive.

This stuff really chaps my hide. You can't do a repair install of the OS if it won't boot. You can't get to Safe Mode if it won't boot and you haven't prepared discs in advance. Give me back my F8, or some other method from the boot!

oldmike65 would you consider answering me on this?
trying to move an image 314gig from one machine to the laptop using Macrium Reflect.
all go well until boot time and cannot get their fix boot problems to work.
I have just downloaded win10586pese x64 and now burning the iso.
is there something in this that will allow me to write the MBR to go to c:/windows?
been on this trying for two days. One other problem I am having is that the image has 7 partitions on it and I have been trying to eliminate those that are not needed by guessing. have done 5 different images.
when I try to load it I get an error msg insufficient space and by cutting out two drives it runs.
I thank you for reading this

    to boot into WinRE
    you can use modify-PE
mount the install.wim from the windows setup media..
    go to windows\system32\recovery
    there you will find winre.wim
copy that winre.wim into the modify-pe sources folder and rename winre.wim to boot.wim

you will now have the bootable MS recovery environment

Use the immensely useful Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk at page 1 to boot in Win 10 Environment, then open a CMD with Admin Privileges from there. Or use the original DVD OS installation disk and choose the proper CMD access option in the Repair section.

But you can run the commands the will run the BCD rebuild process..

The disk is a way to boot the PC, you must have knowledge on how to run the repair process..
And you must have an understanding of the problem, that is causing the boot issue..

    Reference > http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixthe...re-windows.htm

forget Option 2 > Advanced Options = as you are already there with my boot disk..

so you will start at option 3 > command prompt

You can also use the Macrium Software, and select the option to Repair the Boot files

I am not on my home PC, ( my development / test PC ) so I do not have the actual reference as to the program or options..
