Not sure if you are aware of this. Under Drivers->Audio, you can set the volume at startup to 20%. Current is 67% by default.

Kyhi's instructions a few pages back are easy to follow.

Basically, you get things working in the x directory, then copy changes to the mounted version, update the boot.wim, and copy boot.wim to your flash drive.

Takes a couple of goes to learn sequence off by heart.

There are some limitations as the iso is based on Kyhi's original profile, and not all things are easily changed eg US keyboard, as the iso does not contain other keyboard options

That is now your NEW Updated Boot.wim - to replace the existing PE Boot.wim..

Thus I always use USB (writable) media for PE

Holy Sh*t! I'm on my way. Had to use Mount-Wim and Unmount-Wim instead of Mount-Image, and had a little difficulty getting the syntax right. Being an old hand at DOS and GW-Basic helped.

Now, how do I get the shortcuts on the desktop?

Yeah - it takes a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it you can add or modify quite a bit. I am no expert at WinPE by any means but this is easy for a moderately proficient pc user.

There are a couple of good websites dedicated to portable apps (just google) and you can set them up quite easily (not all work in a win pe environment so not 100% portable so test them in the X driver first).

I actually created shortcuts to a batch file to do the mounting and unmounting as well to save the hassle of typing in the commands all the time.

I now have a virtual mini version of windows that is totally portable.

Its a shame my tablet can only load 32bit OSs though as I would have to customise a separate version. Easy enough to do - just effort.
