Visual Basic Pro 5.0 in windows 10

Well, after installing VB 5.0 in Win 10 all works well except the 'help' does not work. That occurred after installing it in Win 7 but I just copied the help dll files into the main VB folder and it worked fine. I like Win 10 okay and it works better now that I am shaping it to look like Win 7. Maybe MS made Win 10 for dummies or the generation-X users that like to smear their screens with finger grease. For me a PC is a tool, not a game. Moving the 'help' dll files into VB did not work, so what am I missing?

Guess I'm just getting too old. Started working computers in 1960 and they seem to be much simpler now, but MS seems to try and make them hard to use. Yuk.

... just use VS, it's really the easiest IDE around.

I started working on main frame computers in the 1960’s when we would use machine language, then assembly to aid in troubleshooting. Then FORTRAN II, IV and so on; until I put together an Altar and designed some I/O for it. Then it was an Osborne! Wow, a neat box with C/PM. While working on some DEC PDP-11’s I found a BASIC compiler and since it was nearly like FORTRAN I took it up as a hobby. That led to PC’s with MSbasic (or whatever it was called), Quick Basic and then Visual Basic. At work it was various versions of “C” and other stuff.

With all the Windows upgrades I still use VB 5.0 because now retired I cannot afford to upgrade too much and VB 5.0 work great as is. Oh well, getting old does those things to us. :)
