Store and some apps from tiles in start in windows 10 do not open

Store (windows app store) and various apps do not open from the start menu. Store will also not open from search box. It just flashes on the screen, but does not open. Apps- such as 3D builder, Alarms and Clocks, One Note, Sports just indicate this app cannot be opened and go to store. All remedies to fix store listed in forums for windows 8 and such have been tried but have no effect. App trouble shooter for windows 10 is unavailable, but did run it and it just gave message that it is not applicable to this issue. That is reset, get apps, restore, and such. Seems all that is left is to reset computer?

Hi, I'm assuming you found solutions like
SOLVED: Windows 10 Start Menu and Modern Apps Do Not Function - Up & Running Technologies Calgary

Is yours a clean install or upgrade?

Otherwise, trying to think laterally and assuming that Win 10 itself is ok, do you have any other scripts or programs running that hook onto programs, add buttons, or modify or add to windows in any way? I'm thinking there's maybe sthg conflicting with the universal apps or processes like Applicationframehost.exe

I'm assuming you've uninstalled, reinstalled the apps- it is helpful to list what you've actually tried.

What happens if you do a clean boot and retry?

    Dalchina:

This is an upgrade win 10 from 7.

Actually I did not find Up and Running Tech Calgary as it is a store issue and start does work as well as edge. I did try reregister
Packages. As far as I know there are no scripts or programs .that are messing with windows or other programs or conflicts, as things were working fine and I added nothing new. Now that you mention it I might have run CCleaner registry cleaner and I should check to see if that might have interfered with something but it hadn't in past.

Most of the apps that are not working are the ones on the header of MSN home page and I can open them from that. They just will not open from the start menu. That is those like sports, money, news, get office, One Note but also 3D builder. I did try to reinstall OneNote but they ran into issues. I do not know how to resinstall those other mentioned.

I have not tried a clean boot since this issue has arisen.

I will have to try some of the other things in Calgary and elsewise.

Hi, there are various tutorials and instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall the universal apps such as
    Apps - Reinstall and Re-register in Windows 8 and 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Whether these will help.. well, a matter of trying when you think it's appropriate.

I'm not sure why you think the link I provided as an example of a range of fixes that could be relevant is about the Store:
" If you have installed a recent Windows 10 build you may find that the START button and all of the modern apps either do nothing or error out with messages about"

You can also have a look at the event log (Event Viewer or other freeware tools) and see if anything is obvious, but that may a little difficult to interpret.

Hope there's something there that's of use.

Other threads here that may give you a pointer:

    - note wsreset.exe for example

Also check services: I don't have a list of those that are necessary; looking thru mine:
Appx Deployment Service (Manual, not running)
    Client License Service (Running)
Geolocation Service (Running) - note, I had an issue with this so worth checking perhaps

I did run application identity and I think it was not running. It is now running but store still did not open.
I then downloaded ADX and ran app store analyzer. It indicated 2 errors. Since this is new to me, I don't understand much of it. But it said it might take 2 hours to scan and the scan was over in about a minute. Other than indicating 2 errors, it said nada.
I might try applocker fix. But I now notice that icons are missing in app listing, most under windows system--in fact most are such as powershell and all that is listed is windows default programs and that directs me to control panel.

I'll try to re-install this way.

Hi, I think you have to start with basics.

    1. Before any significant repair actions, get a copy of e.g. Macrium Reflect or Aomei Backupper (free).
Install and create the boot CD.
You need an external USB disk, say twice the size of the partition/disk you are backing up for long term use.
    Create a disk image.
This should be done regularly as a matter of course with Windows, being fragile. Subsequent backups are smaller and fast being differential or incremental.
It also gives you a complete backup from which you can extract files.

    2. Schedule chkdsk /f to run on restart from an elevated command prompt.

    3. Then follow this:
Repair Windows Image. Windows Component Store Corrupt.

    4. Finally you have the option to do an inplace repair install - for which you need eg a Win 10 disk (easily creatable).
    -boot to normal mode
-install Win 10 from there- see:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

It will take me some time to digest all this. However I did try some things and I ran sfc (I do not understand DISM at all) before I got this post. The results were that it found a number of corrupt files it could not repair. From the log I present one or two such entries:

    Disc chk indicated no errors.

So I guess I have to find a way to repair corrupted files: I'll have to check around as fixit 2 in reference is for win 8.
